Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
A gift from A. G. Spalding & Bros. of Canada Ltd, as noted in the bottom left hand corner, this vintage photo on glossy thick paper stock features the Montreal Maroons, winners of the 1934-35 Stanley Cup. After beating the Black Hawks and Rangers in 2-game total goals series, the Maroons swept Toronto in a 3-game final with Alex Connell allowing just 4 goals against the Leafs. Joining Connell here are the likes of Lionel Conacher, captain Hooley Smith, Cy Wentworth, Herbie Cain, Dutch Gainor, Trottier, Northcott, Blinco, Marker, Ward and Toe Blake. The image measures approximately 7" x 13" and is primed for framing and display in your home. Some light creasing is visible but the piece presents magnificently. The Maroons ceased to exist just three years later. Perfect pre-war memento from that "other" team in Montreal.
