Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Highly-touted defenseman Kris Letang already had a couple of goals under his belt in seven NHL games when he wore this photo-matched Penguins jersey during the pre-season prior to the 2007-08 season. Aside from 10 AHL games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Letang spent most of his rookie season in Pittsburgh, where he posted 17 points in 63 regular season game with the Penguins, before adding two more in 16 playoff games. He wore this Penguins No. 58 gamer with the Pittsburgh 250 patch sewn on the right shoulder during preseason/training camp prior to the 2007-08 season, as indicated on the Penguins LOA that accompanies the jersey. Size 56 flag tag hangs in the back of the neck and a Reebok patch is on the back of the neck. Penguins team patch with Set #1 2007-2008 is sewn inside the rear tail. A few thread pulls on the front and not much other wear to note, this jersey helped set Letang on his way to three Stanley Cup wins and a legacy as the greatest defenseman in Penguins history. Getty Images #76915202 (Sept 17, 2007) and #76956431 (Sept 21, 2007) have both been matched to threading particulars on the "58" on the right sleeve.
