Finishing in a three-way tie atop the National Hockey League standings at the conclusion of the 1974-75 regular season, Ken Dryden would lead the Montreal Canadiens to an appearance in the semi-finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after posting a regular season stat line of 30-9-16 in 56 games played to go along with 4 shutouts, a 2.69 GAA and a .906 save percentage. Playing in his 2nd career NHL All-Star Game during the year, offered here is this stick welded by Dryden during the 1974-75 campaign. A Sher-Wood made offering with "Dryden K." and his number "29" stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of tattered and discolored/yellowed white cloth over the blade and white-over-black on the handle/knob. Featuring a pair of mostly intact accent stickers at the top and bottom of the paddle, the underside features a date stamp reading "DEC 17 1974" that remains easy to make out. Displaying with wear to the "Sher-Wood" brand stamps on both sides of the upper shaft, the stick exhibits moderate game-wear throughout including puck marks over both sides of the paddle and blade tape, cuts over both sides of the blade tape and a couple light red post paint transfer marks over the backside of the upper shaft, it is important to note that the stick is discoloured/darkened throughout its entirety via either weathering or a stain that is heaviest over the shaft while a small hole is drilled into the underside of the paddle near the heel. Additionally, light wear is observed to the bottom edge of the blade, affecting both the tape and bare wood. Hailing from the personal collection of former WHA and NHL referee Ron Fournier, a Classic Auctions LOA will accompany the piece.
