Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This is a pretty unique Penguins jersey. Pittsburgh’s first-round pick (No. 22) in the 2014 NHL Draft, Finnish forward Kasperi Kapanen was traded to Toronto as part of the July 1, 2015 deal that saw the Penguins acquire Phil Kessel. Kapanen saw preseason action for the Penguins prior to the 2014-15 campaign before going back to Finland to play for KalPa Kuopio. Though he played four AHL games for Wilkes-Barre Scranton that season, he did not make his NHL debut until after he was traded to the Maple Leafs. Offered is Kapanen’s 2014-15 Penguins pre-season game-worn jersey. Size 56 flag tag hangs in the back of the collar and a Reebok patch is sewn onto the back of the neck. A black mark above the No. 42 on the right sleeve is best of obviously light game wear. Penguins team patch with serial No. PH#W14150506 is sewn inside the rear tail. The JerseyTrak certificate included with the team LOA that accompanies the jersey indicates that it was worn during Pittsburgh’s road pre-season game at Columbus on Sept. 23, 2014.
