Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
The distinctive marks on the lower left sleeve of Jordan Staal’s 2010-11 Penguins game-worn jersey offers a photo-match on two of the three 8x10 photos of him wearing the jersey that accompany it. Size 58 flag tag hangs in the back of the collar and the “A” is sewn on the left breast in white and navy blue double twill. This beautiful third jersey evoking the Penguins early NHL seasons in Pittsburgh sports the Inaugural Season patch for their new arena for the 2010-11 season. Originally named the Consol Energy Center, it has been known as the PPG Paints Arena since 2016. More game wear includes a spot of red paint transfer on the white band of the front tail, which has a number of black marks further to the right on the left side of the front tail. There is a small black mark on the right “1” on the back and a few black marks and two unrepaired holes on the left sleeve, which has a few loose threads on the elbow gusset seam. Equipment manager Dana Heinze signed the fight strap in blue marker. Penguins third jersey team patch inside the tail displays inventory No. PP#T10025, which matches the laminated Penguins COA that accompanies the jersey.
