The late Johnny Wilson is among about 16 members of the 1960-61 New York Rangers who have autographed this team-signed Art Ross NHL official game puck. Andy Bathgate and fellow HOFers Bill Gadsby and Harry Howell signed in black ink on the vintage white hockey tape wrapped around the edge of the puck. “NHL” is all that can be made out of the otherwise illegible handwritten notation on one side of the puck, which has a screw hole on the other side. Comes with an LOA from the Wilson family and a Classic Auctions LOA, plus a JSA LOA for the autographs.
Prentice, Hampson, Kurtenbach, Hebenton, Paille, Smith, Johns and Sullivan are among the other Rangers who have signed.
Wilson, an All-Star forward, played on four Stanley Cup championship teams with the Detroit Red Wings in the 1950s (1950, 1952, 1954, 1955). He had 161 goals and 171 assists and played in the All-Star Game in 1954 and 1956. One of his most notable accomplishments was playing in 580 consecutive games between 1951 and 1960, making him the NHL's first "iron man"
