Settled in a shootout, the 2014 Winter Classic witnessed a staggering crowd of over 100,000 pack into Michigan Stadium to watch their Detroit Red Wings take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. The game is also noteworthy for the fact that its viewership ranks the contest as the most watched regular season game in history. This Maple Leafs alternate captain’s jersey was worn in the warm-up prior to the contest by shootout goalscorer Joffrey Lupul. Size tagging and a Reebok name band are attached to the collar, with “NHL Winter Classic” screened-on, along with NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Featuring the vintage style Leafs team crest in use from the late-1920s through the early-1930s, the mesh tie-neck has been accented with textured twill numbers with pseudo zig zag stitching pattern and name-on-nameplate. The important 2014 Winter Classic crest resides over the right shoulder. With no visible wear present, the jersey remains in stunning condition. A MeiGray patch numbered K06553 sits on the inside hem, and according to their population report, the jersey is an "NHLPA Set - Worn During Warmup - 1/1/14 At Michigan Stadium (The Big House) / Blue w/A- Winter Classic 1/1/14 at Michigan Stadium (The Big House)" example. An LOA from the NHLPA will accompany.
