A regular on the Czechoslovakian national team throughout the 1980s, Hrdina wore this white polyester mesh #24 Czechoslovakia jersey which exhibits great game use, including an outstanding team repair on the left elbow. The red, yellow and blue team crest on the front is heat screened, and the red vinyl numbers on the back and both sleeves are heat pressed, as are the individual surname letters on a white cloth nameplate sewn across the back. A knit band of red, white and blue is attached to the bottom of the jersey. Hrdina appeared in five world championship tournaments as well as the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo and the 1987 Canada Cup.
With three Stanley Cups to his credit despite appearing in only 250 regular season games, Jiri Hrdina made the most of his relatively brief stay in the NHL. The 30-year-old Czechoslovakian center played for his country in the 1988 Olympics in Calgary before joining the Flames for the rest of the 1987-88 season. After winning a Stanley Cup with Calgary in 1989, Hrdina joined Pittsburgh during the 1990-91 campaign. He took part in the Penguins' consecutive Cup wins in 1991 and 1992 and then suddenly announced his retirement.
