Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
His third and final NHL stop, Jim Neilson played for the Cleveland Barons in both of the club's NHL seasons, including 1977-78 where he reached the 1,000 career game milestone. Co-captain on the squad with Bob Stewart, Neilson was selected by the Cleveland Booster Club as "Baron of the Year" for 1977-78, and we offer the trophy originally presented to The Chief, and it hails from the personal collection of two-time Stanley Cup champion and former Rangers teammate Dave Balon. At approx 14" in height, a handled trophy bowl with hockey player finial sits mounted to a wooden base, with a plaque over the base that states "Baron of the Year Award", "1977-78", "Jim Neilson" and "Cleveland Barons Booster Club". The trophy displays beautifully and remains in excellent condition, with just a few tiny scratches and marks to the trophy bowl mentioned strictly for complete accuracy. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
