Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Playing his college hockey with the University of New Hampshire between 1979 and 1983, helping the Wildcats to a Frozen Four appearance in 1982, Jay Miller would be drafted 66th overall by the Quebec Nordiques at the 1980 NHL Entry Draft and would go on to play a total of 446 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of the Boston Bruins and Los Angeles Kings, recording 1723 penalty minutes over that time. From his swan song NHL season, we present this Kings jersey worn by Miller during the 1991-92 campaign. Made by CCM, both Maska Ultrafil and size "54" labels are affixed to the inner collar while the emblems of both the NHL and CCM have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Styled over the front of the jersey with a Kings "Chevy" logo team crest that features embroidered details throughout, the NHL's 75th anniversary patch that was worn throughout the season has been added over the right breast while the Kings' 25th anniversary crest that was also worn by the club throughout the course of the season has been placed atop of the left shoulder. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Miller's number "29" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, "Miller" is spelt out matching style letters that have been affixed directly to the material at the top of the reverse. Exhibiting light but overall still clear and concise game-wear throughout its entirety, including stick marks over the lower front and both sleeves, light board burns over both sleeves, a one (1) inch team repair under the "9" of the left sleeve and pilling on the interior, it is worth noting that the sleeves of the jersey have been taken in to Miller's liking and that the fight strap is still present on the interior. An LOA will accompany the piece.
