Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Jamie Leach broke into the NHL during the 1989–90 season, and this home white set 2 Pittsburgh Penguins jersey with the large CCM logo on the reverse hem was on his back for 7 of his first 10 big-league games that he played between November 14 and December 12, 1989. The former third-round pick picked up 3 points during his time with the big club.
This jersey measures out to approximately a size “52”, which is consistent with what seems to be a heavily faded “52” noticeable on the tag inside the collar. A handwritten “20” written in black marker appears over the tag as well, corresponding to Leach’s number. His number “20” is sewn on both sleeves in black over white tackle twill, and on the back in black over yellow tackle twill. “LEACH” is stitched in black single twill onto a white nameplate, which is sewn across the upper back. A CCM logo is stitched to the back hem and inside the jersey a fight strap remains securely affixed. A distinctive feature of this jersey is the 41st NHL All-Star Game patch sewn on the left shoulder, commemorating the 1990 event held in Pittsburgh. Game wear is present throughout. The front exhibits multiple stick marks and dried blood stains. The right sleeve shows stick marks and two team repairs near the cuff. The left sleeve displays board burns around the elbow, faint stick marks and some more dried blood stains.
