Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Pitting the Montreal Canadiens against the Calgary Flames, the two Canadian based combatants took their game outdoors on February 20th, 2011 for the second edition of the NHL's Heritage Classic contest with 41,022 jamming themselves into McMahon Stadium in Calgary. With weather conditions during the contest a major storyline for the game as the as the wind chill made the temperature feel like -25 °C (-13 °F) on the ice, offered here is this Montreal Canadiens jersey worn during the second (2nd) period of the contest by Habs defenseman James Wisniewski. Made by Reebok and sporting a lone size "56" label affixed to the inner collar, the logos of the NHL and Reebok adorn the front and reverse necklines respectively. Decorated over front with Montreal's famed "CH" crest, the all-important 2011 NHL Heritage Classic event patch is in place over the right breast. A classic version of Montreal's road jersey with the numbers reflecting what the club wore during their Stanley Cup Finals appearances against the Flames in 1986 and 1989, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Wisniewski's number "20" in dual layer blue-over-red tackle twill numerals while "Wisniewski" is spelt out in single layer blue twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate over the upper reverse. Worn for just a single period of play, the jersey shows just light game-wear via a stick mark over the left forearm and some staining around the collar. Having had a MeiGray tag numbered "H06940" sewn inside the reverse hem that is accompanied by a matching MeiGray LOA, according to the company's Population Report, the jersey is a "White - Heritage Classic 2/20/11 - Period 2 - NHL-MGG Set" example.
