Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Drafted 77th overall by the Penguins in 2013, University of Nebraska Omaha product Jake Guentzel would help Pittsburgh to their second of back-to-back Stanley Cups during his rookie season of 2016-17, registering 21 points in 25 playoff games played including a league leading 13 goals. Having played in over five hundred (500) games during his National Hockey League career thus far as a member of the Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning, offered here is this Penguins third jersey worn by Guentzel during the 2021-22 season. Made by Adidas, a band displaying both "Made in Canada" and size "54" designations is affixed to the inner collar while the crests of the NHL and Adidas have been added over the front and reverse necklines respectively. Decorated over the front of the jersey with "Pittsburgh" in individually applied tri-layer drop-shadow tackle twill letters that run diagonally from right-to-left, matching primary logo patches have been added atop of both shoulders. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Guentzel's number "59" in dual layer yellow-over-white tackle twill numerals, "Guentzel" has been spelt out in single layer yellow twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Sporting a Penguins "Official 2022 Game Worn Jersey" tag heat pressed on inside the reverse hem, the jersey shows wear via pilling over the lower front, a team repair over each sleeve, a board burn over the right sleeve, light stick marks over both sleeves (which have been taken in to Guentzel's liking) and a red board paint transfer mark over the right sleeve, there is also a small unrepaired cut over the lower reverse and some pilling on the interior. Accompanied by a matching Penguins COA, the jersey is photo-matched with Getty Image #1238105538 (January 28th, 2022 vs Detroit) to the now repaired cut over the right sleeve.
