Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Still the greatest team in NHL history, achieving what no other club has done in over a century of the world's fastest game, the Montreal Canadiens won an astounding five consecutive Stanley Cup championships in the late-1950s - which will never be equalled. Backstopped by legendary keeper Jacques Plante, we offer a multi-signed stick used by the icon in the late-1950s. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model, “Plante” appears stamped over the upper shaft, with the original black tape intact over the blade, paddle and knob. Most of the striping accent is also intact over the handle, secured with clear tape. The stick shows good game-use with wear to the underside blade and a crack at the toe, with some of the blade tape missing. There is an additional crack/separation to the handle and at the top of the paddle, with strands of tape on the paddle and blade loose, and marks to the paddle. Despite the minor cracks, the stick remains completely solid. The upper shaft has been shellacked on one side, with a number of faded signatures visible beneath that are impossible to decipher, with only Toe Blake, Ralph Backstrom and Dickie Moore noticeable, along with a bold Rocket Richard signature (signed in ink).
