Jacques Laperriere got his name engraved on the Stanley Cup for the eighth time in 1992-93, his second championship as a Canadiens assistant coach. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987, Laperriere won six Stanley Cups as a defenceman with the Canadiens from 1962-74. In the 1993 playoffs Montreal won 10 straight overtime games against Quebec, Buffalo, the New York Islanders and Los Angeles under head coach Jacques Demers, who followed Claude Ruel, Bob Berry, Jacques Lemaire, Jean Perron and Pat Burns in that role after Laperriere returned to the team as an assistant coach in 1980. Memories of Conn Smythe winner Patrick Roy’s famous wink at Kings forward Tomas Sandstrom are conjured up when you see "MONTREAL CANADIENS 1992-93" is engraved on the trophy with the names of the members of the team - Carbonneau, Roy, Racicot, Ramage, Muller, Keane, Haller, DiPietro, Leclair, Savard, Brunet, Bellows, Odelein, Damphousse, Leeman, Schneider, Desjardins, Belanger, Ronan, Roberge, Dufresne, Ewen, Hill, Brisebois, Dionne, Lebeau and Daigneault - following below. Laperriere has signed the brown felt bottom underneath the black wood base of the 13" tall trophy produced by Boffey. This original trophy was presented to Laperriere by the NHL in recognition of the team’s 1993 Cup win. It remains in excellent condition and comes along with Jacques Laperriere’s signed letter of authenticity.
