Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Playing his junior hockey in the QMJHL as well as a year with the Canadian National Team in 1983-84, helping Canada to a fourth (4th) place finish at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games, J.J. Daigneault would be drafted 10th overall by the Vancouver Canucks at the 1984 NHL Entry Draft and go on to play a total of 899 games in the National Hockey League with ten (10) different clubs over the course of his career. A key member of the the 1993 Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens, offered here is this Canadiens jersey worn by Daigneault during the 1991-92 season in which he recorded eighteen (18) points over the course of seventy-nine (79) games played. Made by CCM and sporting washed out Maska Ultrafil and size "52" labels affixed to the inner collar, the emblems of both CCM and the NHL have been embroidered into the reverse hem while the interior retains its fight strap. Decorated over the front of the jersey with Montreal's famed "CH" crest in layered tackle twill, the NHL's 75th anniversary patch that was worn that year by all the league's teams is seen in place over the right breast. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Daigneault's number "48" in dual layer white-over-blue tackle twill numerals while "Daigneault" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Displaying overall excellent game-wear throughout its entirety, battle scars are observed through no fewer than twenty (20) team repairs over the lower front and both sleeves while other signs of wear include board burns and stick marks over both sleeves, a small unrepaired cut near the left cuff, a red coloured board paint transfer over the lower reverse, white board paint marks over the lower front and good pilling on the interior.
