Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Led from behind the bench by former NHL star and school alum Red Berenson for over three decades, the Michigan Wolverines were gifted with another individual who served the team for an especially lengthy period, with equipment manager Ian Hume seeing 33 seasons of action in Ann Arbor. Losing only four conference games in 2007-08 for a first place finish, the Wolverines defeated Nebraska-Omaha in the Quarterfinal, Northern Michigan in the Semifinal, and Miami in the Final to be crowned Big Ten champions. This 2007-08 Michigan Wolverines Big Ten champions Intergold sterling silver ring was originally presented to longtime equipment manager Ian Hume.
Size 10 1/2 and weighing approx 35 grams, the ring sports an enamel "M" centered on the tableau over a trio of Big Ten Conference plaques with a zirconia inserted in each, with "Big Ten" above, and "Champions" below. The left shank has a Michigan "M" with "2008" above and "Three Peat 45-12" below. The right shank has the university with "Hume" above and "Staff" below. The inner band has "Those who stay will be champions" engraved and "Intergold 925" stamped. Regarding condition, the ring shows just minor wear from use, with scratches to the band and shanks and no unsightly dings along the edges. Sadly, Hume passed away in 2022.
