Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
On November 2nd, 1937, NHL stars suited up at the Montreal Forum to play a benefit memorial game following the untimely death the previous March of legend Howie Morenz. A team of Montreal Canadiens and Maroons players faced off against top talent from the rest of the league, with all proceeds going to the Morenz family. This vintage souvenir, available at the sold-out game, is a pin-back button with the visage of the great Morenz. The button is missing its ribbon, the back of the button exhibits some oxidation spots with light stains to be noticed around the front of the button's edge which overall displays very nicely. A rare piece from a sad day in hockey history.
