Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Stepping into the line-up of the Montreal Canadiens beginning with the beginning of the 1955-56 season and winning the Stanley Cup in each of the first five (5) years of his storied National Hockey League career, the brother of "The Rocket", Henri Richard, would go on to win the Stanley Cup a total of eleven (11) times as a player, the most in the history of the NHL. Playing his entire career in the famed red, white and blue of the Montreal Canadiens to the tune of 1256 games in all, Richard would serve as Montreal's captain from 1971 until his retirement in 1975 and have his number "16" retired by the club in December of the same year. Named one of the greatest players in NHL history during the league's centennial season of 2017, offered here is this stick used by Henri during the period of the late-1960s/early-1970s. A Victoriaville Pro model twig with "16" and "H. Richard" stamped over the upper shaft, the stick retains "Pocket Rocket's" original black tape job around the handle/knob and blade. Void of its accent striping stickers around the upper and lower shaft, the stick displays with just light use through a few light marks over the lower shaft and heel as well as the untaped areas of the blade. Additionally, a couple of light marks are seen over the blade tape while the shaft shows some minor discoloration that is worth mentioning for accuracy. Having been signed by Richard over the lower shaft/heel on the forehand side with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue, a hologram from Classic Authentics is affixed over the shaft on the backhand side to validate its authenticity.
