Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Following in the footsteps of his famous and much older brother, Henri Richard rose through the hockey ranks with two seasons with the Montreal Jr. Canadiens beginning as a fifteen year old, scoring 109 points for the club in 1953-54. The Pocket Rocket would make his NHL debut in a Habs wool in 1955, later captaining the squad while also earning the most Stanley Cup championships for any player in history. This highly desirable contract originates from Richard’s first two NHL seasons, and it’s been signed by the 1979 HOF inductee along with fellow deceased enshrined members Clarence Campbell and William Northey. A Standard Player’s Contract at 8 ½” x 16” (folded), the document called for Richard to earn $7,000.00 during his rookie campaign in 1955-56, and $8,000.00 for his sophomore season in 1956-57. Richard, Campbell and Northey have all signed in ballpoint (differing inks), with no issues for the signatures and just light wear to the contract itself.
