Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Highlighted by a pair of 1960s contracts for HOFer Harry Howell, we offer a small collection of desirable New York Rangers documents. Included, the Howell contracts are for 1961-62 which called for a salary of $15,500.00 with a possible $500.00 bonus (just over $163,000.00 in 2024 dollars), signed by HOFers Howell and Clarence Campbell, and a 1967-69 contract which called for a salary of $35,000.00 along with a number of possible bonuses (just over $330,000.00 in 2024 dollars), signed by deceased HOFers Howell, Emile Francis and Clarence Campbell. Next, there is a June 17, 1966 typed letter on Rangers MSG letterhead, addressed to Black Hawks GM Tommy Ivan regarding Al MacNeil's contract, signed as "Emile" by Francis in blue ink. Finally, there are two typed letters on Rangers letterhead regarding Bill Gadsby's contract bonuses - one from Sept 18, 1955, and the other, from Sept 16, 1958, both signed by Muzz Patrick in blue ink. This a great collection of Blueshirts documents pertaining to the behind-the-scenes operation of the club rarely seen by outsiders.
