The oldest jockey ever to win at the Kentucky Derby, the legendary Willie Shoemaker competed for 40 years - and held the world record for the most professional victories for 29 years. The United States Champion Jockey by wins in 1950, 1953, 1954, 1958 and 1959, Shoemaker was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1958. This New York Racing Association "The Beldame; Aqueduct 1962" sterling silver cocoa pot trophy won by Meadow Stables' Cicada was originally presented to Shoemaker. 7 1/2" in height and with a weight of 0.8 lbs, the octagonal-shaped cocoa pot has "New York Racing Association The Beldame Aqueduct 1962 Won by Meadow Stables' Cicada Jockey: Willie Shoemaker" engraved in a combination of block and scripted letters, with "sterling" and a hallmark over the base. There are two small pieces of ivory to the elegantly-shaped handle, with just minimal wear overall and no unsightly blemishes or dents. An LOA from Shoemaker's wife will accompany.
