Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Also still one of the most collectable and collected players in the hobby, offered here is this baseball jersey and hat worn by Howe at one of Craig Simpson's "Celebrity Classic Baseball" charity events in the early-1990s. A lightweight mesh construction pullover style offering made by Saxon, brand and size "XL" tagging is affixed to the inner collar while an event logo is screened on over the front. Having had "Howe" and his number "9" added over the reverse in matching style white letters and numbers, the jersey remains in overall excellent condition with light wear/staining around the collar while the hat, a white snapback style cap with an event logo embroidered into the front, remains in excellent condition with only light signs of wear and age via minor discoloring to the exterior and sweatband. Originating from Howe's personal estate, an LOA signed by both of his son's Mark and Marty will accompany the piece.
