Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
From his 32nd season of pro hockey in 1978-79, Gordie Howe was still posting especially impressive numbers at this tenure of his career despite his 49 years, with 96 points in 76 games in his first season with New England. This stick was used by the iconic legend during the final WHA season in 1978-79. A Sher-Wood PMP 5030 model with “Howe G” stamped over the upper shaft and “9” handwritten, the original white tape over the blade and black over the knob is intact, with a date code of “6 Avr 1979” along the underside (the WHA playoffs began for New England on April 21, making the stick one of his last used in the WHA). Light game-use is exhibited on the lumber, with the blade and shaft “rubbed” and appearing darker, with marks to the shaft and a few small areas of red paint transfer including at the heel.
