Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
An integral component of the well-oiled production machine that was the Edmonton Oilers during their glorious 1980s heyday, Glenn Anderson would contribute to the club greatly with three seasons of eclipsing the 100-point total, with participation in four All-Star Games during the era. A six-time Stanley Cup champion, offered here, we present this stick used by Anderson as a member of the Edmonton Oilers in the mid-to-late-1980s. A Canadien 6001 model twig with "Anderson. G" stamped over the upper shaft with a "9" penned underneath in black marker ink, the stick retains its original tape job of blue cloth around the shaved down knob, with the handle also having been heavily shaved down as well. Also still sporting its original black wrapping around the majority of the blade, Anderson has signed the stick over the lower shaft on the forehand side with a bold blue marker ink signature that displays without issue. Still displaying with a quartet of mostly intact foil accent striping stickers in various places around the shaft, a factory production stamp appearing to read "4186 2" is found on the underside of the lower shaft near the heel. Exhibiting good game-use via a number of marks and abrasions throughout the stick's entirety, it is worth noting for accuracy that some wear and light cracking appears to the underside of the shaft near the heel as well as to the heel itself. Of note, some of the tape around the knob has come loose.
