Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Playing his college hockey with the Bowling Green Falcons in the NCAA between 1981 and 1984, Garry Galley would help the school to its only national championship to date in 1984 after being drafted 100th overall by the Los Angeles Kings at the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. Going on to play in a total of 1149 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of the Los Angeles Kings, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders, Galley would be selected to a pair of NHL All-Star Games in 1991 and 1994 respectively. Offered here, we present this Flyers jersey worn by Galley during the 1992-93 season that has been photo-matched! Made by CCM, both Maska Air-Knit and size "52" labels have been affixed to the inner collar, with the Maska tag displaying a heavily washed out "3" that has been penned in black marker. Having had both the CCM and NHL shield emblems embroidered into the reverse hem, the front of the jersey has been decorated with a familiar Flyers team crest that has been administered in a layered tackle twill style while the Stanley Cup centennial patch that was worn by all the NHL's teams throughout the 1992-93 season is in place over the right breast. Retaining its fight strap on the interior and styled over the sleeves and verso with Galley's number "3" in dual layer tackle twill numerals, "Galley" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Exhibiting heavy game-wear throughout its entirety, stick marks are observed over the front, reverse and both sleeves, board burns are seen in all those areas as well while team repairs exist over the lower front, lower reverse and both sleeves. Additionally, the jersey shows heavy pilling over the exterior of both sleeves and the front plus heavy amounts of board burns and unrepaired cuts/holes over both sleeves. Also showing coloured board paint transfers over the upper left sleeve/shoulder and heavy pilling on the interior, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #2012962947 (February 13th, 1993 vs New Jersey) to various marks in the front crest, the loose black thread at the bottom of the front crest, the placement of the Stanley Cup centennial patch and to the dark stick mark/burn over the left shoulder area.
