Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Hulking defenseman Ed Jovanovski’s 2002 Winter Olympics Team Canada game-worn jersey is covered with golden memories! Jovo had three assists in Salt Lake City, including a helper on Joe Sakic’s game-winning goal as Canada beat the U.S. 5-2 in the final to claim Olympic gold for the first time in 50 years. Jovanovski’s 2002 Team Canada jersey offered here is from the set worn by the team for its 3-3 tie against the Czech Republic on February 18, 2002. Nike Team Sports size 58 and IIHF tagging sit in the back of the neck with a Made in Canada flag tag hanging down from the latter. The IIHF patch is sewn on the right rear tail and the Nike barcode is screened inside the rear hem. Game wear shows in marks on the right cuff. The set of jerseys was collected immediately after the game and retained by Nike, which donated them to Special Olympics Canada. The jerseys were originally purchased by Classic Auctions and Frozen Pond in a sealed bid auction to benefit Special Olympics Canada.
