Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Spending a trio of seasons in Ontario with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2002 to 2006, Ed Belfour would secure his 400th career win with the blue and white in 2002-03. The superstar netminder would also pass Terry Sawchuk to claim second spot on the all-time wins list, on Dec 19, 2005. Winning 93 of his 484 career NHL wins in the blue and white of the Maple Leafs, offered here is this collection of equipment used by or issued to Belfour during his time in Ontario's capital which includes a pad, blocker, glove, skate, chest protector and signed game-issued stick that all comes directly from his personal collection. Starting with the single right pad as well as the blocker and glove, all three (3) pieces are made by CCM and are found in Toronto's familiar blue and white colourway with silver accents as well. A mix of Heaton 10 (pad) and Vector Pro (blocker and glove) model gear, each has had "Belfour" identifiers embroidered into them in blue thread which "CCM" and model name logos have been either embrodiered/sewn on or printed over the face of each piece. All showing good evidence of use, the pad displays with numerous puck marks as well as sweat staining, red post paint transfers and fraying as well as some damage that is unrepaired over the side and top corner. Additionally, all the leather straps, buckles and skate lace toe ties remain present and accounted for. For the blocker and glove set, showing lighter but still clear evidence of use, each shows with various puck marks, sweat staining and coloured dye transfers plus some fraying to the nylon portions while the blocker palm is free from any holes and is in good shape overall. For the skate, a Graf made "Goaler Pro" model offering that retains its original insole and steel but is void of its lace, the size "9.5" offering sports a custom cowling over the outside made by Icon that displays Eddie's personal eagle logo over the outside of the heel area. Worn on the right foot and complete with all the rivets/hardware, use is seen via various light scratches, scuffs and abrasions as well as red post paint transfers, small tears to the interior, fraying around the ankle leather and salting of the eyelets. Additionally, the tongues show some sweat staining and pilling from use as well. Also including a batting glove style glove worn by Belfour that is blue and grey in colour and signed by him over the palm with a crisp blue marker ink signature that displays without issue, the lot is finished with a chest pad used by Belfour that is a Koho made example that is void of the arms and is tagged a size "XL" while showing just very light use and black marker ink notations over the floating collar bone pads plus a CCM Vector V8.0 stick issued to him late in the 2005-06 season which is stamped with "D.Belfour" over the shaft. Also sporting a production date stamp of "07 MARS 2006" and showing various marks and abrasions throughout, the stick has been signed by Belfour over the forehand side of the blade with a large black marker ink signature that displays without issue. An LOA signed by Belfour will accompany the lot.
