Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Hall of Fame goalie Ed Belfour would post 34 wins and a career high 10 shutouts during the 2003-04 season, his second with the Toronto Maple Leafs, leading the team to a then franchise record 103 points in the standings and an appearance in the second round of the playoffs. Hailing from that record setting season is this stick used by Belfour. A Sher-Wood SOP model that features Belfour’s original tape job on the blade, handle and knob, the upper shaft has been shaved on any graphics that would have appeared on it. Exhibiting good game-use, numerous puck marks are present over the taped part of the blade as well as the paddle and shaft while some other marks and abrasions are observed as well including areas of red post paint transfers. Additionally, rips and cuts are found on the blade tape over both sides and the blade is cracked/broken in the middle underneath the tape but is still attached. Signed by Belfour over the forehand side of the blade with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue, the stick hails directly from Belfour's personal collection and comes accompanied by his signed LOA.
