Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
A star in the National Hockey League for almost two decades, Doug Weight played for six different teams and was a four-time All-Star, winning a Stanley Cup with Carolina in 2006. From the twilight of his career with his final club, we have a New York Islanders captain's jersey worn by the Michigan native in 2009-10. Made by Reebok, a single size “56” tag is affixed to the inner collar while logo patches of the NHL and Reebok adorn the front and reverse necklines respectively. Decorated over the front with a familiar Islanders team crest that features embroidered details throughout, the franchise’s alternate logo patch, representing their four (4) Stanley Cup championships resides over the right shoulder. "93” is sewn to the front, sleeves and reverse in dual layer tackle twill numerals, with “Weight” spelt out on the reverse in matching style across the affixed nameplate. Worn briefly, the jersey shows no game-wear aside from a pair of small dark marks on the right sleeve. The team patch resides on the inside hem, with an LOA from the Islanders to accompany.
