Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Exhibiting his promising skills after leading the Cornwall Royals to the 1981 Memorial Cup before scoring 177 points the following season – one of the highest OHA totals in history, Doug Gilmour was drafted by St Louis and dressed for seven different NHL clubs throughout his HOF career. A two-time All-Star, “Killer” also captured the Frank J Selke Trophy in 1993, and helped lead the Calgary Flames to a Stanley Cup championship, in 1989. Enshrined in 2011, Gilmour concluded his career with over 1,400 points including 450 goals, with his number #93 retired by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
From the Stanley Cup championship season of 1988-89, we have a signed Flames jersey worn by Gilmour. A faded Maska Air-Knit label is affixed to the collar along with a red CCM crest to the reverse hem, with the important sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 50. Styled with the classic Flames team crest fully administered in layered tackle twill, “39” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with "Gilmour" across the affixed nameplate. The dual-clasp fight strap is intact and shows fraying from considerable use. The jersey also shows that it was heavily used throughout, with the front and sleeves loaded with puck/stick marks, burns, scrapes, material pulls and paint transfer, with some minor washed-out blood staining beneath the team crest. There is also a small pair of holes just above the front band, pilling to the interior elbows and cuffs, and two small tears along edges of the "3" of "39" on the reverse. Gilmour has signed the reverse "3" in black marker, and the signature remains dark. An LOA from the Flames will accompany.
