Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Both playing their junior hockey in the system of the OHA/OMJHL's Kitchener Rangers, Dave and Don Maloney would both go on to wear the same red, white and blue colours of the Rangers in the National Hockey League during their career's, swapping Kitchener for the bright lights of Manhattan to the tune of a combined 1258 NHL games. With both brothers finding themselves as teammates in the Big Apple between 1978-79 and 1984-85, offered here is this lot containing a pair of New York Rangers pro on-ice jerseys of the era that have been made up with the names and numbers of both Don and Dave Maloney. A pair of Stall and Dean brand offerings made of a mesh construction, exactly like New York's game jerseys of the era, both shirts are tagged in the inner collar as being size "36" examples. Also sporting Gerry Cosby and washing instruction labels affixed to the inner collars of each jersey as well, the front's of both have been decorated with New York's classic "Rangers" going diagonally down the chest in drop-shadow blue-over-red tackle twill letters. With the sleeves and verso's having been accented with either the number "12" (Don) or "26" (Dave) in matching style drop-shadow numerals, "Don Maloney" and "Dave Maloney" are spelt out individually over the upper reverses, also in matching style drop-shadow letters. Void of any fight straps on the interiors, both jerseys remain in overall excellent condition with a couple of marks observed over the left sleeve on the Dave example as well as a bit of wear to the numbers on the left sleeve and scratches to the twill on the reverse, the Don Maloney jersey shows a couple of marks and spot stains over the front.
