Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Featuring a pair of fan favourite National Hockey League teams and hailing from the finals years of the "Original Six" era plus the early days of the "Expansion Era", offered here is this lot, consisting of team-signed programs of the Detroit Red Wings and Oakland Seals. Starting with the Red Wings program, originally sold at Maple Leaf Gardens during the 1964-65 season for the Detroit vs Toronto contest on December 5th, 1964, the seventy-two (72) page book remains complete and with the line-up sheet intact while more than fifteen (15) members of that year's Red Wings squad have autographed the front cover, including names such as Howe, Lindsay and Ullman plus MacDonald, Barkley, Bergman, Delvecchio, Henderson, Gadsby, Murphy, Crozier and Wetzel. All having signed in blue ballpoint pen ink, most of the autographs display with only minor fading but some are much harder to see than others due to being signed on a dark background. For the program itself, expected handling wear is seen throughout as well as some creasing. For the Seals example, originally from their January 19th, 1969 contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena, the program is once again complete and is unscored on its interior. Remaining in good condition with expected handling wear seen throughout, including some tears at the spine while approximately seventeen (17) have signed over the front cover in blue ballpoint pen ink including; Vadnais, Smith, Ehman, Hampson, Marshall, Ingarfield, Szura, Ferguson, Perry, Jarrett, Hicke, Laughton, Odrowski, Roberts, Worthy and Glover plus others. All remaining in good condition despite some light fading, a COA will accompany the signatures on the Seals program.
