Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Led by the particularly durable Mr Hockey, then a veteran of 19 NHL seasons, the Detroit Red Wings concluded the 1964-65 season in first place overall, with Howe, Roger Crozier and Norm Ullman all selected as NHL First Team All-Stars. Originally presented for their status as 1964-65 NHL champions, we have a rarely-seen and highly sought Detroit Red Wings cigarette case produced by Tiffany & Co. The “Winged Wheel” rides high with pride on the silver 3” x 4 ½” case, with a raised, enamel-painted Detroit Red Wings logo along with “N.H.L. Champions 1964-65” engraved below. “Tiffany & Co” is stamped in tiny letters on the inside lower edge of the gilded interior, with a hallmark and “Sterling” stamped to the thin, gold-coloured band that holds the cigarettes in place. Sporting light wear throughout including some minor scratches, the original Tiffany & Co felt pouch will accompany.
