Led offensively by the incomparable Mr Hockey’s 72 points, the Detroit Red Wings would win 25 regular-season contests in 1960-61, and despite a 4th place finish, would advance to the Stanley Cup finals against Chicago. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have a 1960-61 Detroit Red Wings team photo that has been team-signed. At approx 8 ¼” x 11”, the glossy black and white card stock image features the team in the traditional pose, with the players listed beneath. 17 have signed beneath their respective image in matching blue ballpoint, including deceased HOFers Terry Sawchuk, Gordie Howe, Marcel Pronovost and Coach Sid Abel, along with Ullman, Delvecchio, Glover, Godfrey, Young, Fonteyne, Goegan, Odrowski, MacGregor, Bassen, Litzenberger and trainer Lefty Wilson.
The signatures display well and are easily decipherable despite being somewhat bunched-up including the Sawchuk and Howe, with the photo exhibiting light wear including a few minor corner creases. Tape has also been added to rectify a small tear on the bottom right, with an additional piece of tape on the upper left reverse corner. A notation on the reverse in Hamlyn’s hand mentions receiving this photo in Dec of 1961.
