Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
The very first to be honoured as a Cooperstown immortal, Ty Cobb has been credited with setting 90 MLB records during his unmatched Hall of Fame career, with his .367 career batting average and dozen batting titles remaining untouched. We have a signed cheque from the The Georgia Peach, with this desirable specimen encapsulated and certified “AUTHENTIC AUTO” by PSA/DNA. Drawn on Cobb’s First National Bank account, the Nov 14th 1958 cheque calls for $212.00 to be paid, with all text written by Cobb in his familiar green ink, including the flawless signature. Cancellation stamps are present over the reverse, with a fairly clean front with just a single crease exhibited and very light toning.
The cheque is approx 3” x 8”, and we should note some light wear to the holder itself, including a bit of glue residue near the label from a formerly affixed price tag.
