Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
A veteran of twenty-four (24) seasons in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres, Tim Horton, the namesake of Canada's favourite coffee and donut shop, would play twenty (20) years in the NHL wearing the blue and white of the Maple Leafs and patrolling their blue line in a way that struck fear into his opponents. A four (4) time Stanley Cup champion who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977 and named one of the 100 greatest players in NHL history in 2017, Bobby Hull once stated regarding the late Tim Horton, “There were defensemen you had to fear because they were vicious and would slam you into the boards from behind, for one, Eddie Shore. But you respected Tim Horton because he didn't need that type of intimidation. He used his tremendous strength and talent to keep you in check." Offered here, we present this copy of Tim's Bee Hive Group 2 (1945-64) hockey photo which has been signed by the Leafs all-time great. A posed rookie era image of Horton in his blue Maple Leafs uniform with a facsimile "signature" seen along the bottom edge, the beige coloured backing shows some minor wear to the edges and corners from age/handling while a darkened corner appear at the bottom left and a small spot stain is seen on the backing above Horton's head. Sporting a penned notation in blue ballpoint ink, Horton has signed over the bottom of the image on the front with a blue ballpoint pen ink signature which displays well and without issue. A JSA Auction LOA will accompany.
