Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Ted Williams is widely regarded as one of the greatest hitters in baseball history—and arguably
the greatest to ever wear a Red Sox uniform. Over a 19-year career spent entirely in Boston,
Williams redefined what it meant to be a pure hitter. He was a two-time MVP, a six-time batting
champion, and remains the last Major League player to hit over .400 in a season, finishing the
1941 campaign with a remarkable .406 average. Known as The Splendid Splinter, Williams also
served with distinction as a fighter pilot in both World War II and the Korean War, sacrificing
prime years of his career to serve his country. Even with those absences, he finished with 521
home runs and a lifetime .344 average—numbers that stand as a testament to his timeless
talent and swing.
Offered here is a beautiful 1981 postcard featuring a beautiful portrait of Williams. Measuring
approximately 7” x 4½”, the postcard showcases a bold blue marker signature placed just below
the image on the front. The PSA holder in which it is housed comes with just a few light
scratches on the surface, but overall in great condition. PSA/DNA has certified the autograph as
“authentic” insuring it as a timeless tribute to an icon who was the heart and soul of a historic
franchise.
