Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Regularly cited in popular culture as the epitome of “Old Time Hockey”, Eddie Shore is arguably the roughest and toughest player in history after Sprague Cleghorn, with his list of career injuries to include receiving 14 broken noses, 5 cracked jaws and over 900 stitches. Shore was also the winner of four Hart Trophies, the only defenseman in NHL history to be so honoured. This lot contains a trio of signed cheques from the icon, and fittingly, their drawn on the account of the Springfield Hockey Association (Shore was the owner of the Springfield Indians). At roughly 3” x 8 ¼”, each cheque has been cancelled with stamps on the obverse and reverse, with just one of the signatures slightly infringed upon by a stamp. Dated from August of 1964 to February of 1965, each cheque remains in beautiful condition with attractive ballpoint signatures, ready for display. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany.
