Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Scoring 24 goals in his first season with Montreal after being traded to the club from New York in a 7-player deal involving Hall of Fame goalies Jacques Plante and Gump Worsley, Dave Balon netted his first Habs goal on October 12, 1963 against his former Rangers, with an assist on a Jean Beliveau goal for a two-point night. We offer a trophy display with the puck used by Balon to score his first Montreal goal, along with a second puck that hails from his 4-goal game for the Rangers which occurred on Jan 24, 1971, in a 6-2 win over Minnesota. Both mounted in a plexiglass trophy display at 17" at the highest point, the circa 1958-62 Canadiens Art Ross puck has a plaque that states "1st Goal with Montreal", while the Rangers Converse puck has a plaque with "Puck From 4-Goal Game" (this puck is attributed to be his fourth goal of the game puck). The pucks are removable, with expected wear from age to the plexiglass display. Hailing from the personal collection of Dave Balon, a Classic Auctions LOA will accompany.
