Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Coaching after his playing days where he was a four-time All-Star in the NHL, Dave Balon worked his magic behind the bench of the Humboldt Broncos for four seasons (1976-77 to 1979-80). From his personal collection, we have a Broncos leather jacket from his coaching days with the club, along with a 1980s Prince Albert Diefs Chiefs jacket where he also coached. Both in solid leather, the dark green Broncos jacket has a Bonwitt Winnipeg label affixed to the collar, with a chenille crest over the left breast, while the blue Chiefs jacket has a Seder label and 44 size tag, with the team name embroidered over the left breast, and "coach" embroidered to the right sleeve. The Broncos jacket show light to moderate wear with a pair of team photos, a photo of Balon as coach with an associate, and a 1978-79 Broncos yearbook accompanying. The Chiefs jacket shows heavier use with rubbing to the leather and wear in areas. A group of five team photos accompanies, along with a photo of what appears to be Balon wearing this jacket. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
