Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Voted the 'Most Popular Ranger' on a New York squad with 5 future Hall-of-Famers, and often tasked with checking opposition stars as one of the league's top defensive forwards, Dave Balon also posted impressive numbers in 1970-71, scoring a career-high 36 goals which placed him in the top 10 of NHL scoring. With these accomplishments under his belt, Balon was an easy choice for selection to the 1971 NHL All-Star Game. We offer the two-time Stanley Cup champion's 1971 All-Star Game watch, and it originates from his personal collection. A Gruen model with NHL logo, "1971" and "All Star Game" to the dial, the reverse has "David A. Balon" engraved. In working order, there are a few scratches to the dial, and we are unsure if the current stainless steel band is original, as we previously sold a matching watch from Brad Park's personal collection that sported a leather band. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
