Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Contributing 5 points in 8 playoff games for Montreal in 1965-66, Dave Balon and the Habs defeating Gordie Howe and the rival Detroit Red Wings in six games to claim the clubs's second consecutive Stanley Cup championship and fourteenth in franchise history. We have a 1966 Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup championship 10K gold ring that was presented to Dave Balon. Size 11 with an approximate weight of 20 grams, a gold-coloured Stanley Cup sits inserted into an attractive red stone over the tableau, encompassed by “World Hockey Champions” in raised letters. The left shank feature’s a raised Habs logo with maple leaves below and “1965-66” above, while the right shank feature’s an NHL shield logo, with maple leaves below and “Balon” above. The inner band is stamped “10K” along with a hallmark. The ring shows wear from proud use, with scratches to the band and shanks and a couple small dings along the band. Originating from Dave Balon's personal collection, an LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
