Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Still the owner of the record for most points in a single NHL contest with ten (10), Darryl Sittler still remains a beloved figure in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, even decades after completing his fifteen (15) year National Hockey League career that saw him play a total of 844 games in a Maple Leafs uniform, serving as Toronto's captain from 1975-76 to 1980-81. Offered here, and hailing from his final season in a Maple Leafs uniform, is this stick used by Sittler during the 1981-82 campaign. A Titan TPM model offering with "D. Sittler" stamped over the upper shaft below a penned number "27" in blue marker ink. Sporting a date stamp on the underside of the lower shaft reading "OCT 29 1981", the stick retains its original black tape job around the handle/knob and entirety of the blade. Having had a piece of white tape wrapped around the bottom of the shaft, which covers up some of the date stamp seen on the underside, the stick shows excellent game-use throughout its entirety via a number of dark marks and other abrasions over the entirety of the shaft, lower shaft and heel. Also retaining its stripping accent sticker around the lower shaft, both sides of the blade tape show light marks as well while coloured board and post paint marks appear over the lower shaft.
