Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Still the owner of the record for most points in a single NHL contest with ten (10), Darryl Sittler still remains a beloved figure in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, even decades after completing his fifteen (15) year National Hockey League career that saw him play a total of 844 games in a Maple Leafs uniform, serving as Toronto's captain from 1975-76 to 1980-81. Offered here, and hailing from the 1979-80 season in which he posted 97 points in 73 games played, is this stick used by Sittler which is attributed to have been used by him to register his 750th career point, a goal in the 3rd period against Chico Resch of the New York Islanders on February 19th, 1980 in what ended as a 6-4 Maple Leafs win on the road at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. A Titan TPM model twig with "D. Sittler" stamped in now faded red over the upper shaft, the stick retains its original black tape job around the handle/knob as well as its original, albeit tattered, black wrapping around the blade. Having also had Sittler's number "27" penned over the upper shaft in black marker ink, the stick shows game wear via a number of marks and abrasions throughout its entirety, with other assorted marks over both sides of the blade tape as well. Of note, the stick also shows heavy wear and cracking to the wood in the area of the heel which is worth noting for accuracy. Having been signed by Sittler over the forehand side of the upper shaft with a black ballpoint pen ink signature that has partially faded over time, a notation above the signature reads "To Brad & Lou, My 750th Pt" in matching ink and condition.
