Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
A product of the University of North Dakota who won a pair of NCAA National Championships in 1980 and 1982, Craig Ludwig be drafted with the 61st overall pick at the 1980 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. Going on to play a total of 1256 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of Montreal, New York, Minnesota and Dallas, Ludwig would win Stanley Cup's in 1986 with Montreal and in 1999 with Dallas. Remembered for his incredible shot blocking abilities, offered here is this Montreal Canadiens jersey worn by Ludwig during the late-1980s, circa 1987 to 1989. Made by CCM and featuring a washed out Maska Ultrafil label affixed to the inner collar, the jersey measures out to roughly a size "52" and has had the CCM logo embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with Montreal's famed "CH" logo in a layered tackle style, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Ludwig's number "17" in dual layer blue-over-red tackle twill numerals while "Ludwig" is spelt out in single layer blue twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior, the jersey shows game-wear via stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves as well as coloured board paint transfers in each of those areas as well. Also exhibiting bullet style team repairs over the lower reverse and both sleeves, light board burns are seen over both sleeves as well while the interior shows exceptional pilling. Of note, general filth/stains and sweat staining is seen throughout also which is worth noting for accuracy.
