Hockey Memorabilia Auction - Spring 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/10/2008
Following their memorable first Stanley Cup triumph in the spring of 1980, the New York Islanders posted a 48-18-14 record in ’80-81, their 110 points three better than St. Louis and resulting in team members receiving personal miniatures of the Clarence Campbell Bowl. Left winger on the devastating “Trio Grande” line, Clark Gillies contributed 33 goals and helped linemates Bossy (68 goals) and Trottier to 100-point campaigns, before the Isles successfully defended their Stanley Cup title. Marvelous silver-plated handled cup with removable lid here sits atop a six-sided 3-inch high wooden base and is engraved “Clark Gillies New York Islanders 1980-81” on one side, with the name of the trophy and its "1968" year of inception on the other. In gorgeous near mint condition, the trophy’s green felt beneath the base has been autographed by Hall-of-Famer Clark Gillies who will also sign a letter of authenticity to be included with this fine memento.
