Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Seven-time winners of the Savage Cup - which served as the trophy for the British Columbia Senior Championship, the Nelson Maple Leafs existed from 1932 to 1987, with a number of notable players donning their jersey including Charlie Rayner, Vic Howe and Sergei Varlamov. We have a vintage circa 1950s pennant, along with a pair of vintage circa 1930s Union Hardware skates. The soft felt solid green pennant with white border and green tassels is 22" in length, with the very end of the tip clipped. "Nelson Maple Leafs" is screened on in white along with a large and unique-shaped leaf. The pennant shows wear but displays beautifully overall. The skates feature dark leather boots with top straps, with what appears to be the original laces. The company name is engraved on a skate stem on each skate, with additional stamps to each underside boot. The toe sections were taped during the period, and there is some oxidation/salting to a number of the lacing grommets. The blades show wear, with no major rusting visible.
