Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Tied with the legendary Gordie Howe for most NHL seasons played all-time with 26, Chris Chelios appeared in more NHL regular-season games than any defenseman in history. Suiting up for a total of 1651 National Hockey League games as well as numerous others with his native United States in international competition, Chelios would win Stanley Cup's with Montreal in 1986 and with Detroit in 2002 and 2008. Inducted into both the Hockey Hall of Fame and IIHF Hall of Fame and recently having had his famed number "7" retired by the Blackhawks, offered here is this stick used by Chelios while playing with the Windy City club in the era of the era of the early-1990s. A Sher-Wood P.M.P. 7000 model twig with "Chelios 7" stamped over the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of white over the knob and black around the blade, which has been signed by Chelios over the forehand side with a large silver marker ink signature that displays well despite some fading from age. Featuring a foil accent sticker that is still present over the lower shaft, numerous factory production stamps are found on the underside of the lower shaft just above the start of the heel, including ones reading "Chicago" and "7000". Displaying with light-to-moderate game-wear, a number of marks and abrasions are found throughout the length of the shaft as well as over the heel. Additionally, puck marks are present over both sides of the blade tape as well which is worth mentioning for accuracy.
