Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
The 40th season of play in the history of the Chicago based Black Hawks franchise, the club finished with a record of 37–25–8, good enough for second (2nd) place in the National Hockey League and setting up a first round playoff matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. Offered here, we present this stick signed by eighteen (18) members of the 1965-66 Chicago Black Hawks. A vintage Sher-Wood made "Pro Team" model twig with a "Mikita Style Blade" based on based on the stamp found over the backhand side of the upper shaft, the upper shaft also sports faded stamps of a number "8" and "Right" over the thinned handle. Featuring accent stripes over the lower shaft and dressed up with a rubber grip knob at the top of the shaft, the stick shows heavy wear from use throughout its entirety including numerous marks and abrasions plus wear to the underside edge and toe of the blade from street hockey, which is thin from considerable use. Showing some cracks/missing pieces in the lower shaft and blade near the heel, the middle of the blade is covered in vintage black tape that has tears over both sides.
Regarding the signatures, the stick has been signed by eighteen (18) over the forehand side of the shaft in black marker ink that displays well despite some bunching and age fading. Signed by the likes of HOFers Hull, Esposito, Hall, Pilote and Hay, also having signed the stick are; Hodge, Maki, Mohns, Wharram, Ravlich, Jarrett, Dryden, Vasko, Stapleton, Stanfield, Angotti, Nesterenko and one (1) other that is cant be indentified.
